Scottish independence referendum: Live updates as Scotland goes to the polls
The Scots are voting on whether the country should stay in the UK or not.
The result – which will determine the UK’s future – is too close to call.
Voters are to answer Yes or No to the question: Should Scotland be an independent country?
More than 4.2 million people - 97% of the electorate - are registered to vote and a very high turnout is expected.
Votes are being cast at 2,608 polling places across the country until 10pm on Thursday, with the result expected early on Friday morning, probably between 5am and 7am.
