Boy pulled from Stalybridge canal dies

A boy who was pulled out of a canal in Greater Manchester has died, police have said.

The 17-year-old victim was found after police were called to the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, near Trinity Street, Stalybridge at 15:10 BST on Saturday.
The boy was pulled out of the water by officers and taken to hospital, where he later died.
Police are investigating why the teenager was in the canal and said his death was being treated as unexplained.
"It is too early to say whether he has got in himself or someone else has been responsible," a police spokesman said.
He said the boy had been seen outside Coral bookmakers on Grosvenor Street at 14:50.
Police said the boy was mixed race, and wearing a dark grey sleeveless jacket with a blue hood, dark grey hooded top, burgundy polo shirt, grey jogging bottoms and black trainers.
They have asked anyone with information to get in touch.
