West Pilton assault: man charged over 'hate crime' attack

Police have charged an 18-year-old man over the attempted murder of a Chinese restaurant worker in Edinburgh.
Police were treating the incident, which happened in West Pilton Park at 21:35 on Wednesday, as a hate crime.
The 37-year-old victim suffered multiple injuries, including stab wounds. He remained in a "serious but stable" condition in hospital on Friday.
The arrested man is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.
Police said they believed the victim's silver Volkwagen Polo was stolen from outside a business premises before the assault, which was said to have involved three people.
Det Ch Insp Gary Boyd said: "Police are continuing to follow a positive line of enquiry into this incident, including the theft of the victim's car prior to the serious assault."
He said anyone with information should contact police on 101.
