Awards nights are always attention pullers wherever you go, and last weekend wasn’t an isolated event at the Kilimanjaro Tanzania Music Awards.

Here, though quite a distant comparison with the Grammys, the objective was quite similar in many ways: the industry had converged to coronate the glittering stars.

And indeed it turned into glitz and glamour as the city’s glitterati swarmed the Mlimani City Conference Hall; it was no affair for the light-hearted.

For the  hundreds of  guests in attendance and thousands glued to their TV screens at home, it was rendezvous to behold as the best in the music industry came out to be crowned.

Several aspects of life seemed to be at a crossroads here; fashion especially on the women’s side, to spending power which was symbolized by the fuel guzzlers in the yard.

The rich and famous graced the red carpet in a typical Hollywood style to add the shine on the event.

The fashion sense was high especially among the fairer gender who by all standards outdid their male counterparts in that department.

A paisley get-up here, a mini skirt there, and some didn’t mind throwing in jump suits in the mix as well, though some might have easily been on some sort of a kamikaze mission.

There were those who were just a marvel and some who struggled to get their dress sense right. Isha Mashauzi could have done better with her single shoulder dress if it was not for the mix and match issues.
